The Faculty Club is located alongside the south fork of Strawberry Creek on the beautifully landscaped Faculty Glade. An oasis of relative quiet within a bustling university campus and vibrant city, our location is perhaps our most unique asset. While the Faculty Club is a members' club with exclusive events, discounts, and privileges, we welcome all visitors who wish to dine with us, enjoy our bar, or simply take a look at our historic facility.

Our location means that we, like most buildings on central campus, have no physical street address or single parking area to direct all guests. Getting here is therefore much easier with a little advance planning. Please take a few moments to review the information and links on this page so that you may choose the best option for your visit. When planning a visit to The Faculty Club, your best resource is the UC Berkeley Parking & Transportation website. There, you will find up-to-date information about visitor parking, public transportation, accessibility, and more.

Getting Here

BART To and From the Airport

BART passengers traveling to campus from either airport should either board or transfer to a Richmond train. The Downtown Berkeley BART station is located one block west of central campus, at the intersection of Shattuck Avenue and Center Street. Walking to The Faculty Club from the Downtown Berkeley BART Station takes about fifteen minutes. The shortest route alongside Strawberry Creek takes visitors up a slight grade through picturesque and well-traveled parts of campus. BART passengers carrying luggage or disinclined to walk may take Bear Transit, which provides shuttle service to several points much closer to The Faculty Club. For more information about routes, schedules, and fares please visit the BART website.

Parking

Except for temporary loading spaces, all vehicles parked on campus must display a permit. The UC Berkeley Parking & Transportation Office sets and enforces campus parking policies, which are subject to change. Guests should read posted signs carefully before parking, as The Faculty Club is not responsible for citations.

  • Weekday Visitors
      • Persons planning a short visit to the club before 5:00 p.m. on weekdays are advised to use one of the many nearby hourly public parking lots, such as the Stadium Lot. Refer to posted signs for rates and instructions.
      • Parking permits may be available with a twenty-pass minimum for weekday special events after 5:00 PM; please contact your event coordinator for details and availability.
  • Weeknight and Weekend Visitors
    • Parking is generally more readily available after 5:30 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends, as several campus lots allow drivers without UC permits to purchase hourly parking. Unattended lots may require that visitors pay in advance at a pay station. Parking permits may be available with a twenty-pass minimum for special events; please contact your event coordinator for details and availability.

  • Hotel Guests
      • Hotel guests may purchase overnight parking permits at check-in. Overnight permits are $15.40 per night and valid from check-in until 2:00 p.m. the following day. These permits may be used in the Bancroft Parking Structure during the day and overnight, and in other "C" lots or garage.
      • Arriving guests bearing luggage should first park in one of the temporary spaces in the small lot near the east entrance of our building.
  • Accessibility
      • The Seaborg Room and overnight rooms are located on the second floor, which can only be accessed by stairs. All other areas (Kerr Dining Room, Bar, all other meeting rooms) are located on the first floor, which is ADA accessible. Guests with wheelchairs should enter through the Heyns Patio, which is located near the building's south entrance.
      • While there are "blue" disabled parking spaces near our building, these still require that you display either a campus or Faculty Club (TFC) permit. If the blue spaces are taken, the Faculty Club can provide a permit to disabled guests for another designated space at no charge. You may call or come by our front desk to request a permit. Please be advised that these spaces are limited, and permits are issued on a first-come, first-served basis. We are therefore not able to guarantee spaces in advance.
      • For a list of campus lots with disability access, please visit UC Parking & Transportation's Accessibility page.
