The Faculty Club is honored to bring you Joyce Carol Oates for the very first "Story Hour at The Faculty Club."

Joyce Carol Oates  -  An American author who has received many distinguished awards for her writing over the years.  These include the National Book Award;  the PEN/Malamud Award for Excellence in Short Fiction;  two O. Henry Awards;  the Prix Femina Etranger;  the Commonwealth Award for Distinguished Service in Literature;  The Kenyon Review Award for Literary Achievement;  and the Chicago Tribune Lifetime Achievement Award.  She has been a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.  Her extensive bibliography includes poetry, plays, criticism, short fiction and over 50 novels.  Her recent works include "A Book of American Martyrs", "Night-Gaunts and Other Tales of Suspense", and "Hazards of Time Travel".  Her latest novel, "My Life as a Rat" will be published in June, 2019.  She has written some of the most enduring fiction of our time.She has been on the faculty at Princeton University since 1978, and currently teaches a writing seminar at UC Berkeley each spring.

She will be reading a new story for this program.
