Public Transportation
The San Francisco Bay Area has a reliable and extensive public transit system.
Given traffic, bridge tolls, and the expense and potential difficulty of finding parking (particularly on weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.), getting to the Faculty Club via public transportation is inexpensive and relatively easy. For an overview of transit options for the larger San Francisco Bay Area and a trip planner, you may wish to visit

RECOMMENDED TRANSIT OPTIONS
Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART)
BART provides a convenient link to the Berkeley campus from the San Francisco International and Oakland International Airports, as well as to many other Bay Area destinations. The
Downtown Berkeley BART Station is located one block west of central campus, at the intersection of Shattuck Avenue and Center Street.
Walking to the Faculty Club from the Downtown Berkeley BART Station takes between 10 to 20 minutes. The shortest route, up a continuous, slight grade, takes you alongside Strawberry Creek and through picturesque and well-traveled parts of campus. To get an idea of the BART Station's location relative to our location, please view the
Faculty Club's Google Map.
BART passengers carrying luggage or disinclined to walk may take
Bear Transit, which
provides shuttle service for $1.00 to several points much closer to the Faculty Club. For more information, please see the Campus Shuttles section further down this page.
BART passengers traveling to campus from San Francisco or Oakland should board a Richmond train. Depending upon the starting point and time of travel, passengers may need to board another train before switching to a Richmond train at a transfer station. For more information about routes, schedules and fares, please visit the
BART website.
Door-to-Door Shuttle Vans
Several companies offer door-to-door service to our building from San Francisco International and Oakland International Airports. We suggest Bayporter Express, which lists UC Berkeley and the Faculty Club in its pick-up and drop-off destination’s menu. For more information, please visit the
Bayporter website.
Campus Shuttles
Bear Transit (also called the Perimeter Shuttle) provides shuttle service between the BART Station, the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) & Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI), and several points around and onto central campus.
BART passengers who wish to take Bear Transit may take the
P Line and exit either at the Kroeber Hall Stop, at the intersection of Bancroft Way and College Avenue, or at the Evans Hall Stop, in the Hearst Mining Circle. The
H Line also provides service from the BART station to the Evans Hall Stop, in the Hearst Mining Circle, as well as service to LBNL & MSRI.
For more information and links to schedules and maps, please visit UC Parking & Transportation's
Bear Transit page.
City Bus Service
AC Transit (Alameda & Contra Costa Transit District) offers bus service throughout the East Bay, as well as Transbay service to San Francisco. The bus stops nearest the Faculty Club are on the 52, 51B and F lines at Bancroft Way and College Ave. For more information and other lines, please visit the
AC Transit website.
